Breathing Exercises for the Root Chakra

 

Breathing exercises will help to open up and heal the root chakra. Typically, individuals only use about a third of their lung capacity. Deep breathing increases the amount of oxygen and nutrients delivered to organs and glands. These two breathing exercises will encourage healing to the body by allowing more oxygen to be absorbed by all of the organ systems.

Sound and Essential Oils Enhance Root Chakra

 

USING SOUND TO ENHANCE THE ROOT CHAKRA
The sound of the root chakra is the note C and the sound is LAM. If you have a musical instrument or tuning fork, you can tune the middle C in order to reach the correct pitch. The root chakra resonates at this particular frequency. Vocalizing the sound of the chakra helps to freely connect with it. Try to feel the vibration of C in your voice while pushing the sound and vibration down into the area of the root chakra. Feel the vibration in your tailbone/coccyx. Be sure your vocalization is loud enough for you to hear and feel it in your body.

Journaling is an excellent way to expand your level of awareness. As your awareness increases, you will have the ability to heal the places within you that need healing. Opening up to heightened levels of awareness clears you for powerful imaginative exercises. Get a journaling book and copy the following questions, leaving plenty of space between each question so you can return to add additional questions, thoughts, and ideas.

Using Color/Visualization to enhance the root chakra

The color of the root chakra is red which means its energy center spins at a frequency of the color red. Because everything in the universe vibrates at a particular frequency, colors vibrate at their own unique frequencies. The color red can be used to heal the root chakra energy center.

Visualize the color red in the tailbone/coccyx area which is the location of the root chakra. In your mind’s eye, try to capture the actual color clearly permeating the entire root area. Visualize it from the front of your body, moving through the inside of your body, and then radiating to the back of your body. Allow the color to provide a sense of warmth or tingling throughout the area. Some individuals find using an object such as a chakra stone (available through my web site) is helpful in tapping into the energy center. Because we live in the physical world, touching or holding the object aids in imagining the chakra’s energy center. Let your imagination play with the color . . . see the details of the color, how the chakra spins, the exact area the red color spreads to, and try to identify any feelings or sensations in the area. Stay with this level of concentration while holding it in your mind’s eye. In this way, you are healing from the inside out because it allows you to repair the chakra through spontaneous healing.

Create your perfect day

 

IMAGINE YOUR DAY BEFORE IT STARTS

Before your feet hit the floor in the morning, before you even get out of bed, close your eyes and see your day in positive perfection. The key here is to preview your day as you want it to happen. Say to yourself, “Wow what a great day I am having today!” You can lay your day out before you by imagining it like this: “I have so much energy today. My meetings are productive. My mood is good. My communication is excellent and I get so much work done. At the end of the day, I still have time to relax and enjoy the company of my family. My rest tonight is sound and sweet.”

Remember–the mind doesn’t know the difference between reality and what you are thinking as long as you believe it with feeling and conviction. You really are the creator of your world each and every day! Practice writing out an ideal day for yourself. Practice makes perfect!

JOURNALING WITH METAPHORICAL QUESTIONS FOR THE ROOT CHAKRA

Journaling is a great way to track the progress of your growth. Getting your thoughts and feelings onto paper can be helpful in identifying and releasing any thoughts or ideas that may be blocking you. Through metaphorical questions, you may develop an understanding of the comprehensive relationship between your chakra system and your organ systems. Pondering the questions reveals how the messages your body is sending you impacts your physical reality.

The root chakra is associated with elimination and the digestive system. Below are some metaphorical questions specific to the characteristics/qualities pertaining to the root chakra. By considering these questions, you are stimulating growth within your life as well as encouraging this energy center to flourish. Blockages can also be identified and released. Take time to reflect back on the questions periodically to see if the responses change.

1. What is your biggest fear and why?

2. How do you feel your life is off balance? How could you begin to restore that balance?

3. What do the physical symptoms you experience in your body say to you? In other words, do you see a relationship between what’s going on in your body and what’s happening in your reality?

4. Do you use nature to help you relax with activities such as hiking, swimming, or sitting in nature? How do you connect with Mother Earth?

The Root Chakra and Organ Systems

 

MOVEMENT FOR THE ROOT CHAKRA

Specific types of movement can “speak” to each chakra and enhance its quality. If you are aware of trouble with any of the characteristics of the root chakra then certain movements may be a good way to begin opening the root chakra and encourage its light and spinning energy to be embraced. The result is increased groundedness and decreased fear.

For problems in the root chakra, the most effective type of movement is “earthy” movement and music. Examples of this type of movement include drumming, stomping the feet, and large, heavy movement of the legs and arms. African style of dancing is another excellent example.
